Causes of caries formation in children
- Baby sleeping with a pacifier dipped in sweet foods (such as honey and sugar)
- Baby sleeps without drinking water after feeding
- Mothers taking the spoon to their mouth to control the temperature of the food
- Failure to start brushing teeth at an early age in children
How should teeth cleaning be done in children and babies?
- With the onset of tooth eruption, babies should be cleaned by wiping their teeth in the morning and evening, using a clean cheesecloth or gauze. When the baby’s back teeth come out, toothbrush use starts, but toothpaste should not be used until the age of 3 years.
- After the age of 3, when the child becomes aware of not swallowing and spitting out toothpaste, brushing should be done with a fluoride toothpaste that will be put on a soft-bristled brush the size of a lentil.
- Brushing until the age of 6 should be under parental control.
